Introduction To Crochet - Saturday 23rd March 2013

Time: 10.00am - 4.00pm Tutor: Fiona Morris Cost: £40.00 This workshop will cover the basic of how to make a foundation chain to begin your piece of crochet and how to work the two most common stitches - double crochet and eble croche. During the day you will have the chance to start making a small crochet item such as a mobile phone cover, mag or a scarf as will as a number of samples of the different stitches mentioned above.

Workshop Wednesday 10th July 2013 - Learn To Knit Cables Morning

10.30-12.30pm £20.00 There are a large variety of cables type stitches from traditional Aran cable patterns to Bavarian Twisted stitch. In this morning class you will learn to work a right twisting cable and a left twisting cable. Once you understand how to work these two basic cables you will be able to work many other cable patterns as the different cables are developed by crossing different numbers of stitches with different numbers of rows between. If there is time we will briefly look at charts that are often used with cable patterns.

Workshop Saturday 11th May 2013 - Finishing Off Techniques Part 1

10.00am - 4.00pm £40.00 In this workshop we will look at different methods of casting on and casting off to give garments a better finish, picking up stitches for a neckline and buttonholes.

Workshop Saturday 16th March 2013 - Lace Knitting Sample Scarf

10.00am - 4.00pm £40.00 Lace knitting has increased in popularity over recent years particularly when used to knit fine lace shawls using lace weight yarn and small needles, but lace does not have to be knitted in fine yarn on small needles, it can be knitted in any yarn. In this workshop we will be covering the basic technique of knitting lace and also look at how lace patterns are written and charted, by knitting a lace sampler. The sampler will make a book mark if knitted in fine yarns or a scarf if knitted in chunky yarns The pattern is written using charts so you will learn to read lace charts as part of the workshop.

Workshop Tuesday 26th February 2013 - Continental Knitting

CONTINENTAL KNITTING 10.30am -12.30pm £20.00 There are 2 main styles of knitting; English or ‘throwing’ where the yarn is held in the right hand and Continental or ‘picking’ where the yarn is held in the left hand. It can be useful to be able to knit with yarn in either hand e.g. when working stranded knitting but it can also help if you find your current style of knitting causes repetitive stress problems and many people find they can also knit faster using the Continental method.

Workshop Saturday 18th May 2013 - Finishing Off Techiques Part 2

FINISHING OFF TECHIQUES PART 2 10am - 4.00pm £40.00 In this workshop we will look at a variety of ways to seam your knitting for a professional finish. We will work samples of mattress stitch, back stitch and 3-needle cast off including short row shaping for shoulder seams.

Thor Cushion

So this is my cable cushion in Wendy Thor Super Chunky.  Knitted over 20 stitches - I used the Clover Cable needle. I have to say that the Wendy Thor yarn is very quick to knit up, and would be a wonderful project if you have never tried cable before, and would like to give it a go.

I do love cable, it's such a lovely stitch to use.  The cushion only took me two days, so christmas pressie for the family here I come. (I hope they do not read this) Also so many lovely colours to choose from! The one I knitted I think I will give to my mum, now it's just trying to decide on what colour to do next....... oh so many to choose!!!

And here is the finished piece.  x

The things we do.

So after the mad rush to finish my daugthers cardigan for Christmas, which still to this day she thinks aunty knitted it for her. (thought she would never wear a cardigan knitted by mummy) She has seen me knit for my friends little girl, she asks one day can you knit me a cardigan mummy, of course I can if you would like one, I reply.  My loving daugther's reponse was, I would love a cardigan because you knitted it for me.  How can I say no.

Not really going to help me finish all of my UFO's, but then either is working with new yarns and patterns in the shop.
